Ohio Industrial Commission Customer Service Assistant 1 Named April 2026 Employee of the Month

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Industrial Commission congratulates Laura Sheehan, Customer Service Assistant 1 in the Dayton District Office, on being named Employee of the Month for April 2026.

Sheehan was nominated by two of her coworkers and chosen for the award by the agency's Employee of the Month Committee.

“I believe Laura should be the Employee of the Month, because she is always ready and willing to help, no matter what, with a smile on her face,” Laura's first Employee of the Month nominator wrote. “Laura always goes above and beyond in her role as a customer service assistant. She is always ready and willing to help whether it is for an injured worker, an attorney, hearing officer, or maintenance person. She really seems to enjoy helping and, in our agency, that is very important.”

“I never feel as if Laura is just doing her job. I really feel like she is happy to be here and happy to be included in what we are doing here,” Laura's first nominator continued. “She can ALWAYS be counted on to help in any way, regardless of what she may be in the middle of, if she is asked for assistance, her answer is always a yes, and then she does it. Laura is a great asset to our office, and we are lucky to have her.”

Laura's second nominator wrote: “This nomination is long-overdue. Laura's synergy, wit and engagement with her co-workers as well as the parties and representatives has developed a welcoming and cordial environment at the Dayton District Office. There are countless examples that Laura has created a culture that perfectly blends professionalism and humor, which is most appreciated in such a setting.”

“Laura is fostering a work environment and culture that generates a special cohesion and energy. Also, Laura is very detail-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow with this agency. She is an incredible attribute to this office, and I am very grateful to be her colleague,” Laura's second nominator concluded.

Sheehan is a Customer Service Assistant 1 in the Dayton District Office. Her supervisor is Carma Clark, Claims Examiner Supervisor. Laura started at the IC in July 2024. This is her first time being named as the Ohio Industrial Commission Employee of the Month.
