Ohio Industrial Commission Columbus Office Closed from January 17 through January 20

COLUMBUS, OH – Governor Mike DeWine announced on January 14, 2021, that the Ohio Statehouse will be closed Sunday, January 17, 2021, through Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in anticipation of protests over the coming inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

Additionally, it has been ordered that all State of Ohio office buildings in downtown Columbus close during this same time period.

The governor announced that state personnel in Columbus offices will work from home or other assigned places.

Accordingly, Ohio Industrial Commission offices in the William Green Building will be closed for in-person business from Sunday, January 17, 2021 through Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

Ohio Industrial Commission employees are not permitted on the William Green Building premises during this period.

Additional necessary information relative to Columbus-based operations, or operations in other cities where Ohio Industrial Commission offices are located, will be communicated as it becomes available.

Subject: Downtown Building Closures

Dear Colleague:

In anticipation of potential protests next week, all downtown Columbus State office buildings will be closed Sunday, Jan. 17 through Wednesday, Jan. 20, reopening Thursday, Jan. 21. This includes the following State-managed buildings:

  • The Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, 77 S. High St., Columbus
  • The James A. Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 E. Broad St., Columbus
  • 25 S. Front St., Columbus
  • 246 N. Hight St., Columbus
  • 35 E. Chestnut St., Columbus
  • The William Green Building, 30 W. Spring St., Columbus

If not already working from home, employees of these buildings should report to their alternate work location during these closures. Similarly, employees in those State agencies located in leased space in the downtown area should report to the alternate work locations, if not already working from home. All impacted offices will be closed to visitors, as well.

Additional information regarding print and mail services will be sent to the agency contacts who work with these functions.
In addition to these buildings, we have been informed by Governor Mike DeWine that the Ohio Statehouse will also be closed from Sunday, Jan. 17, through Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Notice of Special Meeting

A Special Meeting of the members of the Ohio Industrial Commission will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. The purpose of this Special Meeting is limited to the following: Possible revision to the following Adjudications Before the Ohio Industrial Commission policies to comply with recent statutory changes enacted by the 133rd General Assembly: Memo A1--Exposure to Blood or Bodily Fluids; Memo A2--Professional Employer Organizations; Memo I1--Continuing Jurisdiction- Ten Years and Five Years; Memo L1--Hearing Room Demeanor Memo M3--Adjudication of Claims with the issue of Exposure to Blood or Bodily Fluids as Delineated by R.C. 4123.026; Memo R11--Use of Cellular Phones, Telephonic Pagers, Personal Computers, and other Audible Devices in the Hearing Area Specified; Approval of 2020 Ohio Industrial Commission Meeting Minutes as scribed from audio recordings of meetings: March 12, 2020; April 15, 2020; June 3, 2020; September 14, 2020; October 28, 2020 and to meet in Executive Session to discuss personnel (upcoming vacancies of hearing officer trainer and Cleveland Regional Manager).

The meeting will be held via conference call as a precaution against the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in accordance with Sub. H.B. 404, signed by Governor Mike DeWine and effective November 23, 2020, which extended the time period in which public bodies may hold remote meetings as originally set forth in Section 12 of the Emergency Legislation Am. Sub. H.B. 197, signed by Governor Mike DeWine and effective March 27, 2020.
